Media Exposure FAQ
There were more than 500 registered press for KBIS last year, and we expect even more at KBIS 2012. This provides an incredible opportunity for your company to present its brand and products directly to the media by offering press kits in the NKBA Press Room. Below are some common questions that exhibitors often have regarding press kits.
Do I have to be an NKBA member to offer press kits?
No, as long as you're an exhibitor at KBIS 2012, regardless of the size of your booth, you're welcome to offer media kits in the NKBA Press Room at KBIS.
What should our company include in its press kit?
By including press releases, product announcements, specification sheets, photos, company fact sheets, and contact information in your press kit, you can greatly increase the likelihood that your company and products will be featured in consumer and trade publications.
Should we use paper or digital press kits?
The NKBA encourages exhibitors to offer digital press kits on either CDs, DVDs, or USB drives. This not only reduces paper use and cuts your production costs, but in the KBIS press survey, more than 80 percent of media members reported that they prefer digital press kits over paper kits because digital kits are less cumbersome to carry and allow them to write about new products more quickly.
How many press kits should we send?
The number of media kits that your company should provide in the press room can vary from 50 to 300, depending on the size of your product's target market, the level of your company's brand recognition, and whether you provide the press kit on a disc (CD or DVD) or a USB drive. The broader the audience for your products, the more recognizable your company, and the use of a USB drive will all increase the number of media members who will review your press kit.
How do we get our press kits to KBIS?
The NKBA recommends that you ship your press kits directly to the Press Room at KBIS for arrival on or before Friday, April 20, 2012. Please ship your press kits via a trackable service, such as UPS or FedEx, to: Annette Gray - NKBA Media Relations, KBIS Press Room S401, C/O Freeman, McCormick Place, 2301 S. Lake Shore, Chicago, IL 60616. Alternately, you can drop off your press kits in the NKBA Press Room on Monday, April 23 from 8am to 5pm. Note that many media members will take press kits before the show floor opens on Tuesday, April 24.
Can other exhibitors look through our press kits?
No, exhibitors and their PR representatives are free to bring media kits into the press room, but they're not allowed into the area where the press kits are displayed.
Are any press room sponsorships available?
